I want to shop
Where exactly IS the Big Green market?
You’ll find us in the lower hall of Burntisland & Kinghorn Church of Scotland Halls (KY3 9DH) on West Leven Street, Burntisland. We are just around the corner from the railway station and a few mins walk from the High Street. There is limited street parking but unlimited free parking at the nearby Links Car Park.
Do you accept card payments?
We can accept card payments for purchases totalling over £30 but we do prefer cash, there are two ATMs in the High Street and the banking Hub is also open on Fridays.
What are the prices like?
You’ll find the prices at BGM really hard to beat. To give you an idea, typically books are 50p and most articles of adult clothing are priced at £2, children’s clothing is even cheaper.
I can’t afford even low prices - can you help me?
Yes, if you are in a crisis situation we may be able to offer you quiet space 9am-10am before the market opens on Saturday where you can choose items you need without cost. Please contact us in advance biggreenmarket.burntisland@gmail.com to arrange this.
I want to donate
What kind of donations do you accept?
Almost anything is good, clean condition! Clothes, shoes, toys, jigsaws, sports gear, vinyl, homeware, bric-a-brac, craft supplies, plants, books etc
Is there anything you don’t accept?
Unfortunately we don’t have storage space for large items of furniture (try our friends at Furniture Plus) and unfortunately we find there’s no market for CDs and DVDs in this age of digital streaming.
Where and when can I drop off donations?
On market Fridays from 8.30am onwards, or any time the market is open, but please not in the last half hour of the market on Saturdays.
Will you pick up donations from me?
Sorry, we are unable to offer this service but we can help to unload your car.
What happens to stuff that doesn’t sell?
Good question! We feel it is important that stock is kept fresh, nobody wants to see the same offerings every month, so we do regularly pass on donations to other groups and charities. We also recycle clothing and books that don’t quite make the standards our shoppers expect.

Where does the money raised go to?
BGM tries to raise £1,000 every month to support different local community groups who are trying to make their activities as green as possible, and make the world a better place in big and small ways.
So far we have supported 50 groups all doing their bit to reduce Burntisland’s carbon footprint.
We are also proud to make a small donation every month to support the Cornerstone Community Cafe . Why not pop along on Wednesdays 12 noon-2pm for a friendly welcome, free lunch and a chat. We also make ad hoc donations to other groups when we can.
My group would like support, how do we apply?
We are booked up several months in advance but if your group would like to be considered for funding please click the button below to complete the form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
