Get creative with BGM workshops

Upcycling & Upskilling

Thanks to the Big Lottery’s Community Fund we’ve had a great time over the last year running workshops to help us all make the most of the kind of treasure you can pick up for pennies at the markets.

We’ve made earrings from unloved costume jewellery, draught excluders from a pair of old jeans and trinket bowls from obsolete vinyl.

Learning a whole heap of new skills, we know how to look after our bicycles, defluff and oil sewing machines and we’ve practiced the gentle art of Shashiko visible mending.

We now have a monthly meet up for upcyclers and sewers where we all help each other out (well, amongst the coffee and blethering).

If you have a bright idea for making the most out of everyday items then we’d love to hear from you, could even be our next workshop!

“Really enjoyed this class, your teaching style is very soothing! Please do set up a regular sewing/craft class, I’d love that”
